Here are five ways:

第一，出生日期。
Dìyī, chūshēng rìqí。
The first way, the date of birth.

如果孩子的父母很相信阴阳，
Rúguǒ háizi de fùmǔ hěn xiāngxìn Yīnyáng,
If the child’s parents believe in Yin and Yang,

他们会觉得好的名字
Tāmen huì juéde hǎo de míngzi
they will think a good name

会给孩子带来好的生活、好的工作和好的未来，
huì gěi háizi dài lái hǎo de shēnghuó、 hǎo de gōngzuò hé hǎo de wèilái,
will bring the child a good life, job and future,

所以他们会找算命师帮忙。
suǒyǐ tāmen huì zhǎo suànmìng shī bāngmáng.
therefore they will search for a fortune teller to help name the child.

根据孩子的出生日期，
Gēnjù háizi de chūshēng rìqí,
According to the child’s birth date,

算命师会判断出孩子属于五行中的哪一个元素，
suànmìng shī huì pànduàn chū háizi shǔyú wǔxíng zhōng de nǎ yí gè yuánsù,
the fortune teller will determine which of the five elements the child belongs to,

给孩子一个好名字。
gěi háizi yí gè hǎo míngzi。
and give the child a good name.

比如说这个孩子属于水，
Bǐrú shuō zhège háizi shǔyú shuǐ,
For example, if a child belongs to the element of water,
.
那算命师会给这个孩子起一个带“土“的字，
nà suànmìng shī huì gěi zhège háizi qǐ yí gè dài “tǔ “de zì,
then the fortune teller will give the child an “earthy” name,
.
这样水和土可以保持平衡，
zhèyàng shuǐ hé tǔ kěyǐ bǎochí pínghéng，
this way, the name will maintain balance between water and earth，
.
孩子才会健康和平安。
háizi cái huì jiànkāng hé píng'ān.
